Error 400- an Error Has Occurred
[400] An mistake occurred while sending an authentication request to the vCenter..
Howdy,
I take installed vCenter Server VMware-vCenter-Server-Appliance-7.0.2.00200-17958471 (seven.0U2A) in VMware Workstation and am facing the below issue and am unable to login.
The error states
[400] An error occurred while sending an authentication request to the vCenter Single Sign-On server - An error occurred when processing metadata during vCenter Single Sign-On setup: the service provider validation failed. Verify that the server URL is right and is in FQDN format, or that the hostname is a trusted service provider alias.
I have attempted this method https://kb.vmware.com/s/commodity/71387 but not working. I have run the fixsts.sh script which succeeds just no success.
I tin admission via IP address, no issues in that location.
Not certain whats incorrect, the DNS works fine if I perform nslookup from vCenter via SSH.
Thank You
Just your screenshot shows you using only the NetBIOS proper name and this is why information technology is non working.
The mistake is also advising you lot what to do
"Verify that the server URL is correct and is in FQDN format"

I never understand why people practise this in workstation, simply your DNS FQDN needs to be correct and you demand to be able to resolve the DNS proper noun of the VCSA server.
https://servername.domain.com not simply https://servername/ this doesn't work with SSO
Both your frontward and contrary DNS must exist for this VCSA and your VCSA must exist able to encounter information technology in DNS using the DNS servers you configured.
Information technology is by design this does not work with just the NetBIOS proper name.

both forward and reverse lookups are resolving fine for the vCenter FQDN..

But your screenshot shows y'all using merely the NetBIOS name and this is why it is non working.
The error is likewise advising you what to do
"Verify that the server URL is correct and is in FQDN format"

I can't say I've e'er named a VCSA with hyphens, your issue could be related to this if information technology works with an IP.
Since this is clearly a lab, yous could try over again without hyphens

Thanks I'll endeavor it out and update accordingly..

So I got this working, by using FQDN in initial VMware Workstation setup window instead of using IP unlike vCenter 6.7 which works fine fifty-fifty if IP address is used.
Thanks..

So yous did as both myself and the error suggested, even so you get the credit?
-
My apologies I got excessively happy of the problem being resolved while forgetting the help provided..
Thanks againRod-Information technology 😀

FYI, I was not interested so much in the points or the BA, merely noting it as people will only assistance if they go credit for doing and then.
Glad to run into information technology's sorted though
